Belvidere Victorian Days (Belvidere, NJ) in September. Gen. Maxwell Chapter members displayed DAR brochures and pictures about local, state and national projects. A booth visitor chats with member Judy Stoma and Carolyn Schwender, learns about the purpose of DAR membership and the ways to trace a family's Patriot through a variety of internet and in-person contacts.

Chapter members (l to r) Elizabeth Drake-Shanahan, Judy Stoma (seated), Carolyn Schwender and Janet Pascoe enjoyed the General Maxwell Chapter's booth visitors while fielding questions and sharing information about DAR and the chapter. Other members had earlier decorated the straw hats and patriotic visors and caps at a craft workshop as they prepared for their exhibits at Belvidere's Annual Victorian Days.

The General William Maxwell Chapter recently restored the grave of our chapter namesake, General William Maxwell and the adjacent graves of his two brothers; Captain John Maxwell, Lt. Robert Maxwell and their wives. The graves of these Revolutionary Patriots are located in the Greenwich Presbyterian Cemetery, Stewartsville, NJ.
Contact the chapter at for an information brochure on this project.
